1. Introduction
Open Door VPN ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our App.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, store, or share personal information to identify, profile, or track you. There are no accounts and no logins. Specifically, we do not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Browsing history, DNS queries, or activity logs
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or telemetry
We do not log or store your IP address to track you. When you use the optional free servers (Section 3), our backend necessarily receives your IP for that request — as any internet server does — solely to respond.
3. VPN Connection and Free Servers
Your traffic passes through the VPN tunnel directly between your device and the server you connect to. We do not monitor or log your traffic. Servers you add yourself and subscriptions you import are stored locally on your device and connect directly, without involving our infrastructure.
Open Door VPN also offers optional free servers. When you use them, the App contacts our backend to fetch the current free-server list and to report an anonymous connection count that helps balance load across servers. This involves no account, no personal identifiers, and no browsing data. As with any network request, our backend receives your device's IP address to send a response; it is not used to identify, profile, or track you, and your traffic itself is never inspected or logged.
4. Local Data Storage
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Server configurations you add (address, port, protocol settings)
- Subscription URLs you add
- App preferences (theme, DNS settings, routing rules)
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.
5. Your Control Over Your Data — Reset
Because everything the App stores lives on your device, you can erase it yourself at any time, without contacting us and without an account.
The App includes a built-in reset. Open the menu (☰) and choose Reset:
- Full application reset — disconnects the VPN and permanently deletes every server, subscription, routing rule, preference and log stored by the App, then closes it. This cannot be undone.
- Reset settings — returns all preferences to their default values while leaving your servers, subscriptions and routing rules unchanged.
You can also delete individual servers or subscriptions from their menus, clear the App's data from your device Settings, or uninstall the App — any of which removes the local data. Since we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing further for us to delete on your behalf. Full instructions are on our Account & Data Deletion page.
6. Network Permissions
Open Door VPN uses Android's VpnService to create an encrypted network proxy, ensuring secure, private internet browsing. The use of VpnService is essential for providing the core VPN functionality, allowing Open Door VPN to securely route your network traffic through a protected connection, even on public or shared networks. This feature safeguards your data privacy and enhances security while you browse online.
7. Third-Party Services
The App is distributed as a direct download for Android. That build includes the Unity Ads SDK, which displays ads and is operated by a third party under its own privacy policy; it may receive device and advertising identifiers in order to serve them. It does not receive your browsing, your DNS queries, or anything carried inside the VPN tunnel.
Apart from Unity Ads, the App integrates no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs — no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, nothing comparable. A separate ad-free build (com.opendoor.vpn.play) contains no third-party SDKs at all; it is built for store distribution and is not currently offered.
8. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. Since we do not collect any personal information from any user, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting children's data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page and, where appropriate, in an App update. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
